Once you've found an internship that interests you, it's time to apply. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Focus on the experiences and skills that are most relevant to the role, even if they are not directly linked to the exact job tasks. Tekniksprånget does not use CVs, but rather wants the participating companies to go on the candidates' knowledge and interest.
  • Internships are often more about developing than completing specific tasks. Emphasize your curiosity and motivation to learn new things.
  • Do some research about the company and show in your application that you are interested in their business and values.
  • Explain why this particular internship interests you and what you hope to get out of it, both personally and professionally.

There are many ways to find an internship. Here are some tips on how to maximize the chances of an internship through Tekniksprånget:

 

  • Quantity: Search as many places as you can. In Tekniksprånget's portal, you can search for up to 15 different places. Search all!  
  • Search broadly: Don't just focus on the big, well-known companies. Smaller companies and startups can often offer more hands-on experience and more personalized guidance. They can also be more open to taking on interns and provide greater responsibilities quickly, which can be a great opportunity to learn and develop.
  • Move: See the internship as a chance to try living on your own for four months and apply for internships outside your hometown. It can really be developing to live alone in a completely new place.

Which internship should I apply for?

The choice of internship depends on several factors. The first is of course your area of interest – the internship should give you the opportunity to develop in an area you find exciting and relevant to your education or career. Also think about what type of work environment you are most comfortable in: Do you prefer large companies or smaller, more dynamic workplaces? Also consider geography and access to business travel – sometimes an internship in another location can provide a good experience.

What internships does Tekniksprånget offer?

Tekniksprånget is an internship program that gives young people the chance to explore the engineering profession through paid internships for four months. Since its inception in 2012, almost 7000 have participated, and the program offers internships all over Sweden in various industries where engineers work. The initiative is run by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) together with the business community and the government, with the aim of inspiring more people to choose technical education and meet the shortage of engineers.

How do I apply for an internship at Tekniksprånget?

Tekniksprånget offers internship programs twice a year, in the spring and autumn. The application period for the autumn traineeship period is between 16 April and 6 May, while the application period for the spring traineeship period is between 16 October and 6 November.

To be able to apply, you must have a degree from the Science, Technology or Economics programme, or a degree from the International Baccalaureate or a technical foundation year. You must also be no more than 21 years old at the time of application.
